Today’s automotive industry is vastly immersed in a culture of digitalization and innovation. Almost every manufacturer around the world is putting forward its own version of an electric car, an autonomous vehicle, or at the very least, a connected automobile. In our own market, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc (HARI), official distributor or of Hyundai vehicles in the country, is well aware of this reality and has thus proposed to face it head-on.

Through the very first Hyundai Innovation Congress (ICON), which was recently held during the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) at the World Trade Center earlier this month, HARI brought together industry officials and thought leaders from private business and the government in a bid to discuss the future of the industry amid the growing digital revolution.

The quiet and thought-provoking event at the Amorsolo and Hidalgo Halls of the WTC, which was a stark contrast to the quick pace of MIAS, had freshly brewed coffee and topics ranging from disruptive transformation and the digital revolution on the table. It was a way for the industry to stop and think of where it is headed and how it will face the challenges that lay ahead, especially in these ever-changing times.

HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo notes that, “The Hyundai Innovation Congress is designed to be a regular platform to spark dialogue, challenge the status quo, and come up with smart, relevant, and do-able measures that will guide business strategies in the years to come. It is a call for all sectors to embrace innovation—our winning chip in the face of the I.T. Revolution.

With the Hyundai ICON, the industry should be well on its way to facing the future.
