Vehicle sales up by 10% in Q1 2017 according to AVID

The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors, Inc. (AVID), has posted a notable increase in vehicle sales after Q1 (January, February, March) of 2017. In detail, Q1 2017 saw a total of 23,312 units sold, a 10% increase over the same period last year which was at 21,160 units.

According to AVID, the sales performance of passenger cars (PC) in Q1 2017 grew by 21% or a total of 9,242 units. Looking back to the same period last year, this is an impressive achievement as Q1 2016’s record was seen at 7,609 units.

AVID adds that Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. or HARI, the exclusive distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country, topped the chart in terms of PC sales with a record of 5,986 units. For the record, HARI’s March 2017 sales performance contributed to this achievement, with the Hyundai Accent leading the charge.

As for the light commercial vehicle (LCV), AVID announced that the segment posted a total unit sales of 14,070, a 4% increase over last year’s 13,551 units. Atop the chart is Ford Philippines which posted a total of 7,586 units. Supporting this feat is the American carmaker’s March 2017 sales performance which is highlighted by a strong showing from the Everest SUV.
