Volkswagen Philippines has announced that it will introduce new versions of the Jetta and the Golf. According to the brand, this move aims to not only expand its model lineup, but also to break its own record of a stellar sales performance in 2016.
As a sneak-peak, the brand will dish out a new Jetta compact sedan for the 2017 model year. It will be available in 4 kinds; the Comfortline, the Highline, the Business Edition, and the range-topping Business Edition+.
Of course, each variant of the new Jetta will be uniquely fitted with features for comfort, convenience, entertainment, and safety. But to set things on an even level, all variants will come with a 2.0L inline 4-cylinder turbodiesel TDI engine which makes 148 hp and 340 Nm of torque. It’s the governed by a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission.
Along with the Jetta, Volkswagen Philippines will also bring out the Golf GTS (Grand Touring Sport). It basically is a Golf hatchback that’s a little stretched-out at the back, thus turning it into a wagon. As such, the brand claims that the trunk holds an additional 350 L of cargo, fit for storing grocery items or luggage for a long weekend vacation.
According to Volkswagen Philippines, the Golf GTS will be available in 2 variants; the Business Edition and the Business Edition+. Best part is that the Volkswagen Golf GTS shares the exact same power train as the Jetta (engine, transmission, and all), making it the first wagon in the country today to run with a diesel engine.
Ahead of the launching of the new Jetta and Golf GTS, Volkswagen Philippines says that it’s now accepting reservations for the said models with deliveries expected to arrive by the end of May. Stay tuned for more details and photos as the brand will pull the wraps off these two later this month.
