Some 20 years ago, Volvo introduced the Cross Country concept to the world. This unique-for-its-time approach combined the versatility of a station wagon with the all-weather security of an off-road vehicle. Of course, Volvo’s world-famous safety was part of the mix.
Now, Volvo’s Philippine distributor brings yet another Cross Country offering to the market in the form of the Volvo V90 Cross Country. This number takes its cue from the V90 wagon and adds 65mm of ground clearance and all-wheel drive to provide a more rugged yet sophisticated vehicle
Up front, you see recognizable styling cues of modern Volvos, particularly those from the Volvo Concept Estate, such as the Iron Mark grille and Thor Hammer LED headlights. These are combined with a broad shoulder line, flared wheel arches, and the signature vertical tail lights. The luxurious theme continues inside with Black walnut trim, premium leather, and upscale materials.
As with most new Volvos, features like the CleanZone air purification system, Sensus infotainment and connectivity system, and even Park Assist with a 360-degree view monitor help keep the cabin clean, connected, and safe, respectively. Speaking of safety, Volvo equips the V90 Cross Country with Intellisafe and Pilot Assist systems. These help the driver in everyday driving situations and make life much easier and safer on the road. Pilot Assist, for instance, helps keep a safe distance from the car in front, as well as keeps one in the lane using gentle steering inputs.
The new Volvo V90 Cross Country will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel motor that puts out 235hp and 480Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic with all-wheel drive. Using the brand’s Scalable Product Architecture, the car is designed for relaxed cruising that can still be used to tackle those tricky off-road conditions with ease.
The Volvo V90 Cross Country will be available locally in two variants: the D5 Inscription, priced at P4,895,000, and the D6 that goes for P4,995,000.
