Since it was founded in 1993, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has brought together some of the finest cars, motorcycles, and racing machines in British history. Held at the historic Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, England, the event isn’t just a gathering of Britain’s finest; it likewise sees some of these legends participate in the famous Hillclimb and other events.
And what British affair would be complete without the presence of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars? After all, the British automotive marque has become a symbol of the world’s finest luxury automobile. This year, Goodwood once again celebrates this with a feast for car aficionados and Rolls-Royce fans alike.
The 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed was graced by no less than three variants of the newest member of the Rolls-Royce family: the Black Badge Series. The Wraith, Ghost, and the newly-launched Dawn Black Badge were at the event for all the world to admire. Each one represented their respective nameplates, this time done in a bolder and more aggressive yet still stately form. As Rolls-Royce says, the Black Badge is for those folks who dare to be different, who make their own rules, and follow their own path.
Besides going Black, Rolls-Royce also showed off its new Sweptail Coupe. This stunning number, inspired by the Rolls-Royces from the 1920s and 1930s, features a stunning panoramic glass roof that allows the two occupants to enjoy that open-air feeling while still being cossetted in the lap of luxury.
As with any Godwood event, the Rolls-Royce models that were present weren’t just sitting pretty on the lawn. On the contrary, they were put through their paces via the Hillclimb. This allowed spectators to see just how powerful and luxurious these cars are.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an annual get-together that takes place in late June or early July of each year.
