After representing the country in a football tournament in France last June and playing their hearts out in Futbol Salou in Spain, Gawad Kalinga (GK) Foundation’s SipaG football team once again got a treat, courtesy of Suzuki Philippines.
The Japanese compact vehicle maker recently donated around 900 football paraphernalia to the kids, aged 12 and below, in a special ceremony last July 5 at the GK Activity Center. Suzuki and GK representatives were on hand to hand over the items to some 30 children who each represented the various GK football clubs and teams.
The football items included soccer balls, gym bags, towels, and t-shirts. The gear will be distributed to SipaG’s 14 clubs scattered across the country. These include teams from Mandaluyong, Smokey Mountain, Palo, Leyte, Davao, and Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao. There will likewise be new teams in Siargao, North Cotabato, Tawi-Tawi, Sultan Kudarat, Butuan, and Marawi.
The latest GK donation is part of Suzuki’s continuing commitment to support sports like football. It is no secret that Suzuki is a proud sponsor of the AFF Suzuki Cup.
