It was reported over the past few months that Porsche has been enjoying brisk sales since last year. This trend continues as the German sports car maker recorded its best-ever half year performance, with some 126,497 vehicles delivered worldwide. The higest-ever sales figure in the brand’s history equates to a 7% rise over 2016’s 117,963 vehicle turnover.
Porsche credited its hot-selling Panamera as one of the main drivers for this growth. The four-door sports car’s sales rose by a significant 54%. But while the Panamera enjoyed popular global acceptance, it was the sporty Macan that sold the most. The compact Porsche SUV reached the 50,000 sales mark, rising 7% over last year’s figures. This was followed by its bigger Cayenne brother, which saw 35,601 units being delivered to customers. And of course, other models like the 718 Cayman and its topless Boxster sibling also saw double-digit growth.
When it comes to sales by country, China once again leads the way, with sales growing by 18% to 35,864 Porsches from last year’s 30,440 units. Porsche’s USA arm sold 27,568 vehicles, while its German head office witnessed 15,474 Porsches being received by clients.
If such a trend continues, Porsche could see record numbers by the end of 2017.
