Suzuki Philippines, through its Suzuki Auto-Moto branch (Suzuki Big Bikes Center) in Makati, recently held an event to unveil a stable of hot new big bikes to spice up the local motorcycle industry. The event dubbed as the Suzuki Royal Arrival, saw the latest incarnations of the GSX-R1000R/GSX-R1000, GSX-S750, SV650A, and the V-Storm 1000XT.

Suzuki Bikes 2017 Launch-5 Suzuki GSX-R1000/GSX-R1000R

Honed through years of experience on the track, the 6th generation Suzuki GSX-R1000 and its limited edition variant, the GSX-R-1000R, is what Suzuki claims as the “best GSX-R ever made.” This bold statement rings true right off the bat with the way the bike is styled. Suzuki engineers have redesigned the sports bike to exclude a more aerodynamic stance. Aside from its rather fierce-looking front end and profile design, the bike also boasts a more compact structure.

While this structure gives the bike its notable handling and agility, its 999.8cc inline 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed gearbox takes care of performance.

Suzuki pegs the GSX-R1000 with a price point of P995,000. With this comes an assortment of available colors Blue, Red, and Matte Black. The GSX-R1000R, on the other hand, stickers at P1,169,000 when availed with its standard Blue paint. For its Special Black finish, a P200,000 is added to the bill, bringing it up to an SRP of P1,189,000.

Suzuki Bikes 2017 Launch-3 Suzuki GSX-S750

To those who prefer a sports bike without the flashy mask and side fairings, Suzuki offers the GSX-S750. At the heart of this naked street bike is a 749cc inline 4-cylinder mill that’s mated to a 6-speed transmission. Suzuki highlights the engine with improved crankcase ventilation holes, long-nosed fuel injectors, and a recalibrated final gear ratio that emphasize better acceleration, better sound tuning, and easier starting.

The engine, combined with the bike’s lightweight construction and a 3-mode traction control system rewards the rider with lightning fast launches, commendable power, and exhilarating manoeuvrability.

Of note, the Suzuki GSX-S750 is priced at P539,000 for its Blue/Black and Red/Black color schemes. Similar to the GSX-R1000R, the GSX-S750 also comes in an aggressive shade of Matte Black that ups the tag P200,000 higher to P559,000.

Suzuki Bikes 2017 Launch-4 Suzuki SV650A

Compared to the GSX-S750, the Susuki SV650A evokes a more reserved nature when it comes to how it looks. Yes, its cosmetics may look less-aggressive than the “apex predator,” but what it lacks in stylistic flair, it makes up for in absolute fun on the road for everyone.

The secret to this fun is the bike’s 645cc V-twin engine that generates linear bursts of power. As a result, the bike emits a rather unique “heartbeat-like” engine hum that, when given the throttle squeeze and a quick run of the 6-speed gearbox, intensifies to an edgy roar.

The Suzuki SV650A is priced at P399,000 and is available in 3 colors; Black, Blue, and White. Suzuki added that a Red color variant will also be available within this year.

Suzuki Bikes 2017 Launch-2 Suzuki V-Storm 1000XT

The Suzuki V-Storm 1000XT is the brand’s entry into the touring segment. It now features an updated look that projects a sophisticated aura. New to its design are reshaped side fairings that smooth out wind flow for a more stable ride. The once-optional handle bar knuckle covers are now standard in this latest iteration of the V-Storm 1000XT.

But the bike highlight is its comfort. For this, Suzuki made the once-optional handle bar knuckle covers a standard feature. These help reduce wind blast and shield the rider’s hands against the elements like rain or mud/dust sprays. In addition, the handle bar grips themselves, have also been improved with optional heaters for cold weather rides.

The improvements in riding comfort extend to the bike’s technical goodies. For example, its ABS system is now beefed up with what’s called a “Motion Track Brake System.” This new feature automatically adjusts the bike’s stability under braking on straight lines and corners.

Moreover, the latest V-Storm 1000XT is also capable of automatically boosting its rear brake pressure depending on the front brake pressure. A tech that enhances stopping power, stability, and riding accuracy, this feature is what Suzuki refers to as the Combination Brake system.

Under the rider’s command is a 1,037cc (1.0L) V2 engine and a 6-speed transmission.

The Susuki V-Storm 1000XT stickers at P734,000 and comes with optional accessories for a more spirited ride up the mountain passes. It’s available in yellow and White colors.
