As early as 2015, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars began teasing us with news that it would be unveiling a totally new vehicle—particularly for the luxury marque. Refusing to call it a Sport Utility Vehicle or even a crossover, Rolls-Royce said that the new vehicle would be an “all terrain high-sided vehicle”.
After almost three years of testing and teasing, the British ultra-luxury carmaker is about to reveal the new offering. A report b by Automotive News said that Rolls-Royce would be showing off the new car to prospective clients through private viewings beginning in the third quarter of this year.
While Rolls-Royce didn’t reveal much about the new Cullinan, it did point out that the vehicle would utilize a totally new Bespoke aluminum platform. It is the second model to use this architecture after the eighth-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom that was introduced last year.
The Cullinan has also been undergoing testing at the famous Nurburgring. This will help ensure, Rolls-Royce says, that it will have the handling of a car and be “effortless to drive everywhere”. It would most likely have the same 563hp twin-turbo V12 found under the Phantom’s long hood.
The new Rolls-Royce Cullinan will have its unveiling in the third quarter of this year, with sales commencing by the end of 2018. Customers should have their new rides by 2019.
