On February 25, 2018, the Circuit Makati Parking Grounds will become a battle arena for the bravest and most skilled riders in the metro. That’s because KTM Philippines will be holding the first Dukehana competition in the country.
The Dukehana is a sporting event created exclusively for KTM Duke riders, especially those who own the bike’s 200 and 390 variants. With rules akin to that of the gymkhana competition in cars, it challenges both man and machine on speed and agility.
Riders must blaze through a paved course while avoiding traffic cones and performing maneuvers such as reversals, 180-degree spins, 360-degree spins, and figure 8s, among others. The catch is that the rider must complete the course in the shortest time possible in order to win.
According to KTM Philippines, the event is open to beginner and expert riders alike. Registration is free of charge. It’s also open to stock or modified Dukes, as long as the bike’s distinctive styling elements like fairings and faceplate are untouched, on the grounds of it being the focal point of the event.
The brand, however, reiterates that each participating rider must ensure that his/her bike has great-working brakes and capable (if possible, new) set of tires. In addition, he or she must also wear proper safety gears such as full-face helmet, shoulder/elbow/knee pads, gloves, and closed shoes.
The victor will be in for great prizes. These include a KTM PG&A voucher worth P5,000, KTM duffle bag, and an overnight stay for 2 at Summit Ridge in Tagaytay.
For non-participant who’ll bring their KTM bikes, KTM Philippines will be providing free motorcycle diagnostic check-ups.
As earlier said, this will be the first time the KTM Dukehana will be held in the Philippines. Over the recent years, it has seen success in countries such as Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea. The winner of the Philippine leg will move up to compete in the Dukehana Asia Finals to be held later this year.
