Mini Electrifies a Classic

Mini has not hidden the fact that it is preparing to electrify its line-up beginning next year. .The British carmaker will be unveiling an electrified version of the Cooper, which is said to be the first among many vehicles of its kind.

To spice things up, Mini has just released a one-off version of no less than a Classic Mini Cooper with the Electric badge. What this essentially means is that this little bugger runs on electricity.

While no details were given about power, range, and the like, Mini did say that it will still offer the same Mini goodness—go kart-like handling, small size, and driving pleasure—minus the harmful emissions. This would be in no small part due to the instantaneous torque offered by the electric mill.

But alas, all this will only remain a showcar. Though who knows? Mini might just offer the said classic with a zero-emissions mill somewhere down the line. In the meantime, the Classic Mini Electric will be seen at this year’s New  York Auto Show which opens on March 28.
