When it comes to luxury car brands, the usual names that are top of mind are Mercedes-Maybach, Bentley, and Rolls-Royce. Those old enough, however, may recall another marque—Lagonda. Founded in 1899 by Wilbur Gunn in England, the brand built some of te most luxurious automobiles until around 1989.
If the name sounds a tad familiar, Aston Martin did offer the Taraf Lagonda to Middle Eastern customers in 2014. But now, the British GT nameplate will once again revive the Lagona name via a new SUV that is set to debut in 2021.
While no details were disclosed as of press time, the folks at Aston Martin did say that the new offering would be like no other SUV out there. Based on the Vision Concept that was presented last March at the Geneva Motor Show, the Lagonda SUV would retain the boldness that the show car had. In fact, Aston says that it would break away from the 20th century notion of what a motor car is.
The big bosses at Aston Martin describe the Lagonda SUV as being the first of its kind. It will showcase their love for technology, luxury, and style. While the SUV is still a good three or so years away, it would be something to look forward to as we move towards the next decade.
