Since 2016, the global automotive industry has been undertaking a massive campaign to recall certain vehicles affected by the Takata airbag inflator issue. Done as a safety measure to ensure that no one gets seriously injured by defective Takata airbag inflators, automotive firms like Bermaz Auto Philippines have been taking steps to bring in all vehicles that are affected in order to replace the necessary part.
The Mazda Philippines distributor once again reminds vehicle owners of Mazda2, Mazda6, and BT-50 units with specific Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) to check with their authorized Mazda dealer if their ride is affected by the safety recall. To date, some 744 Mazda vehicles have had their Takata airbag inflators replaced.
Of course, with millions of vehicles out there fitted with the said airbags, this number is still quite small. So BAP appeals to Mazda owners to make sure that their vehicle is properly serviced and its airbag replaced, should it be affected by the recall. The procedure will only take around an hour and is free of charge.
There are 20 authorized Mazda dealerships around the country.
