The Philippine National Police (PNP) recently acquired 130 additional vehicles as part of its crime-fighting fleet. The national police force credits this to Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) which turned over 40 and 81 units of the Elantra and Grand Starex, respectively.
For the record, this is the largest volume of vehicles the carmaker has donated to the PNP so far. In turn, this further strengthens the bond between the Philippines and South Korea as the 2 counties have been in partnership to beef up and modernize the former’s crime-busting agency for 6 years now.
All 130 units were turned over to PNP through a recent ceremony held at Camp Karingal in Quezon City. To make this possible, HMC sought the assistance of the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The reason being was to make things all the more legit and easy to deliver the said patrol units to the Philippines and turn them over to PNP.
Each unit came already modified according to PNP specifications. These modifications include LED search and warning lights, safety screens, dashboard cameras, mobile radio casings, rear safety films, and multi-function signal bars.

To start things off on a high note, HARI inspected and prepped up the vehicles at its Hyundai Logistics Center (HLC) in Calamba Laguna prior to turnover. It saw to it that each vehicle will be ready for action right from day 1. Moreover, it facilitated a driver training program in Camp Crame to help PNP’s force be familiarized with the Elanta’s and Grand Starex’ features.
