First was the Volvo V60. This was naturally followed by talk of an all-new S60, which if you really think about it, was long overdue. After all the teasers, the car has finally arrived.

Looking like a sleeker version of its wagon sibling, the new Volvo S60 retains a number of styling bits from the family tree. These include the Thor’s Hammer headlights, the vertical grille, and the front diffuser. The broad shoulders are likewise included in the mix.

Stepping inside, the large tablet-style infotainment display sits proudly at the center of the dash. It features Volvo’s signature Sensus Connect interface that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It likewise acts as a 4G LTE hotspot to keep you connected while on the move.  More tech goodies can be seen in the form of the trademark safety kit. These include lane keep assist, oncoming traffic mitigation, and Pilot Assist. The last one uses steering and brakes to help the driver keep a steady line up to 130kph.

Volvo is offering a host of engines for its new midsize sedan. The T5 comes with a 250hp mill and front-wheel drive. The T6, on the other hand, gets 315 horses and all-wheel drive. There are also Twin Engine options that offer turbocharged and supercharged motors paired with electric powerplants. The T6 Twin Engine all-wheel drive produces 340hp while its T8 Twin Engine sibling puts out a whopping 400hp.

If these aren’t enough power, the S60, which now rides on the vaunted Scalable Product Architecture like the rest of the family, also gets tweaked by Polestar. Taking its cue from the T8 Twin Engine version, it can muster 415hp and even gets throttle control, brake, steering, and suspension upgrades to match.

Expect to see the Volvo S60 hit showrooms by the fourth quarter of this year.
