Its sales may have taken a slight dip for the month of July and the past seven months of 2018. Yet Hyundai Asia Resources Ina (HARI), official Hyundai distributor in the Philippines still has reason to celebrate. That’s because it still exhibited strong sales, particularly in the ever-growing Light Commercial Vehicle segment.
July 2018 sales were pegged at 3,279 units—a slight 8.8% drop from the 3,594 mark during the same period last year. This still gave it a 19,236 output for Jaunary to July of 2018. That slightly lower by 8.2% for the same period in 2017. But take note that this is the brand’s highest volume for 2018.
This strong performance was led by Passenger Car sales which accounted for two-thirds of total volume. It was the Eon and Accent that led the charge, with the latter sitting proudly in the Top Three best sellers list for the local industry.
As for Light Commercial Vehicles, this accounted for one-third of total sales. And while its 6.2% rise was in contrast to the PC segment’s 14.5% decline, this class of vehicle continues to be popular among Filipinos. The Tucson and H-100 are now joined by the all-new Kona, which has proven to be a hit among new car buyers. The subcompact crossover’s looks, features, and competitive price are the main reasons for this.
As we move towards the end of 2018, we can expect Hyundai and total industry sales to hold fast and stay on course.
