MINI Philippines recently held its MINI Festival 2018 at the Bonifacio High Street in BGC Taguig. Serving as an avenue to further reach out to its customers, the said festival showcased the British marque's latest wares, including the star of the show; the MINI Cooper Monte Carlo Edition.

The Monte Carlo Edition serves as MINI's way of commemorating its rich sporting heritage that dates back to the 1960s. At the time, MINI proved its racing prowess at the famed Monte Carlo Rally in 1963 by clinching 3rd place. This catapulted the brand to its maiden 1st place victory in '64, followed by another one in '65, and another in '67.

The MINI Monte Carlo Edition is based on the current model Cooper S 3-door. As such, it runs with a gasoline-fed inline 4-cylinder 2.0L mill which packs 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque. This motor is governed by a 7-speed dual-clutch Steptronic automatic gearbox.

Aesthetically, its exterior rocks with a few upgrades and bits taken straight out of the MINI John Cooper Works. For example, it’s got prominent checkered livery on the side which leads the eye to the #37 mark. In context, the #37 is the car number which the original MINI Cooper S had when it won the Monte Carlo Rally. Beside these, the MINI Monte Carlo Edition also comes with a panoramic sunroof and a pair of sporty fog lights to complete rally-style the look. Interior-wise, occupants in front will enjoy a pair of Recaro bucket seats, Harman Kardon entertainment system, and special door sills.

Here's the best part - MINI Global has blessed the Philippines by making it the ONLY COUNTRY in the world to sell the Monte Carlo Edition. Kodos to the brand's official local distributor AutoHub Group for that. Because of this, MINI Philippines will be rolling out 20 examples of the Monte Carlo starting November 11, 2018. Come the said date, interested buyers may purchase the MINI Monte Carlo Edition for a price point that's within the ballpark of more than p3,000,000.

The catch? This limited-run MINI can only be purchased online via Lazada Philippines, a bold move by MINI as it's the first time for any car brand to do such a thing here in the country. This not only makes the Monte Carlo all the more exclusive, but also allows more buyers across the Philippine to drive it home.
