Remember the Ferrari Monza SP2? Last September, the Prancing Horse came out with a pair of open-top speedsters for its Icona Series, the Monza SP1 and SP2. Well, the latter has now garnered an award for its iconic style and substance.
Given at the Paris Festival Automobile International, the recognition cites the inspirational vibe that this open-to beauty exudes. It takes a cue from the marque’s very own speedsters from the 1950s. Yet this time, the Monza SP1 and SP2 have modern internals residing underneath their evocative shettmetal.
The centerpiece of these modern bits is a 6.5-liter V12 mill that puts out 809hp—the most powerful Ferrari motor in the Prancing Horse’s colorful history. This allows the Icona speedster and its SP1 twin to scoot from 0-100kph in just 2.9 seconds and it a top speed in excess of 300kph.
The awards ceremony held in Paris was attended by well over 600 guests, including big names in the automotive industry.
