The year was 1997 when Toyota Motor Corporation unveiled the first-generation Prius. This was the very first mass-produced hybrid vehicle that ran on both a gas engine and an electric motor with a self-charging battery. A little over a dozen years later, in 2009, Toyota Motor Philipppines introduced this technology into the country via the second-generation Prius.
Since then, the Prius and its more compact Prius C, gave Filipinos a taste of what it’s like owning and driving a vehicle that helps save fuel and our environment. Now, in 2019, Filipino motorists and the general public will again be made aware not only about hybrid technology but fully electric vehicles as well.
One of the steps TMP is taking is to host a conference that will revolve around the theme Towards Sustainable Mobility. Slated for May 29, 2019, the event will bring together various stakeholders from the automotive industry, business, government, the academe, the press, and others who will discuss key issues concerning Hybrid Electric Vehicles. We refer to topics like what this form of mobility is all about, its benefits, as well as certain stumbling blocks to its becoming a mainstream means of transport in the country.
With this affair, TMP hopes to address key issues which would one day pave the way for HeVs being a part of its very own product offensive in the country. Yes, Toyota looks to offer Filipinos an electrified motoring future.
