Italian carmaker Maserati recently pulled the virtual covers off its most powerful model to date – the MC20. This signals the brand’s return to the super sports car world which it left in style nearly 20 years ago with its successful MC12.

But this isn’t just some ordinary way of nodding to the past by bringing out a model that takes inspiration from an iconic predecessor. The Arrival of the Maserati MC20 also signals the brand’s move to set a higher standard for the future while still tipping its hat to the past.

Exterior

First things first, just take a look at the exterior design. It’s a world of carbon fiber all throughout.  The curves, the character lines, the way each panel is designed to project a smooth flowing glance from front to rear and back again, is art in and of itself. This sleek design can be considered as a hint of what the brand is aiming for in its future models down the line.

In more detail, notice that Maserati insignias have been slightly restyled to drive home the brand’s evolution. This new logo design blends well with the MC20’s finer exterior quirks such as the sharp-looking pair of main lights up front and in back, and a set of twin tail pipes that complete the look. And being a mid-engine car, Maserati was able to insert a bit of design flair on the rear window, as well, of that being the louvers forming the iconic Trident insignia.

Interior

Even getting in the MC20 is a visual experience on its own. And this starts by opening the car’s wing doors. Yup, the Maserati MC20 is the brand’s first model to sport a pair of doors that open up and out. Not only does this look cool, but it also serves to help in giving occupants an easier time getting in and out in tight parking spaces. Other interior features include a 10.3-inch driver information display and head unit, as well as interior trims wrapped in alcantara.

Performance

Of course, the Maserati MC20’s looks is well complemented with an oomph factor that can be reckoned with on the road, and more especially on the track. According to Maserati, the MC20 can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 second which would lead up to a maximum speed of 323 km/h.

This is achieved by what’s sitting behind the occupants, that being a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 with 630 hp and 729 Nm. All that power is governed by an 8-speed dual clutch gearbox that was inspired from Formula One. The Maserati MC20 also comes in full EV form that closely matches the acceleration and top speed of the petrol version – the same fun and excitement, all without the guilt.

Alright, this just about wraps up all the words because the only true way to really appreciate the awesome Maserati MC20 is by audio-visual immersion. Click the launch videos below and enjoy.
