Finally, after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid19 pandemic, the biggest motor show in the Philippines, the Manila International Auto Show or MIAS, has returned to physical form in full force.
As with every MIAS held in the past 17 years, many of the country's top participating car brands have once again risen to the challenge of displaying their latest wares.
But for the most part, one aspect of the motoring event has held strong to be experienced, even to this day. Since 2007, the Russ Swift Precision Driving and Stunt Show never fail to wow the MIAS attendees. And for this year, the tried and true formula comprising of British stunt driver Russ Swift and Subaru Philippines' best-selling models have not lost its potency of giving 100% entertainment.
Russ Swift, for those who didn't know, is a professional stunt and precision driver who has a knack for driving in style whatever 4-wheeled ride he gets his hands on. He has contributed decades of skill to the British police force and to many TV commercials, most famously the 1988 Austin Rover Montego 1.6L spot.
Once a Guinness world records holder, he's touted for his skills behind the wheel, performing stunts like the Parallel Park, J-Turn, and doughnut spins. But for many Filipinos, he's most famous for balance-driving a vehicle on its side with the help of an inclined plane to start things off.
Watch this short video highlighting what Russ is capable of onboard the latest Subaru Forester and BRZ, both fitted with the brand's famed boxer engine and (for the Forester) Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system. Held at the 17th Manila International Auto Show, April 7 to 10, 2022 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
