Pinnacle Motorsport is looking forward to getting back on track in the new year as the Formula Regional Middle East Championship Certified by FIA gets its 2024 season underway in a week's time. The Irish-licensed squad is bracing for stiff competition as the races resume in the desert, which they will face head on with a strong four-car lineup.
Alexander Abkhazava joins Pinnacle Motorsport after spending a year in Formula 4. Coming from several years in karting, he made his single-seater debut in F4 UAE and scored a best 9th place finish. He then entered the Spanish F4 Championship to further build on his experience before moving up to Formula Regional.
Racing alongside him is 17-year-old Giovanni Maschio. The Italian driver made his single seater debut back in 2022 in the Italian F4 Championship. He then graduated to the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) in 2023, making this his second season in Formula Regional.
Mari Boya brings with him a wealth of experience in single seaters as he competes under Pinnacle Motorsport in Formula Regional Middle East. The Spanish driver was the 2020 Spanish F4 vice champion before he moved to FRECA a year later. He wrapped up last year's Formula Regional Middle East in 5th overall and finished runner-up in the 2023 Eurocup-3 season. Boya is also confirmed to to race in the FIA Formula 3 Championship later this year.
Completing the team's lineup is Finley Green from the UK. Competing mostly in sports cars, Green was a Ginetta Junior driver before moving up to race in GT4. He is now set to make his Formula Regional debut as the season begins in a week's time.
The championship officially begins with a double header at the Yas Marina Circuit on the 12th and 19th of January. It will then move to the Dubai Autodrome for Round 3 in February, back to Yas Marina for Round 4, then finally closing the season at Dubai on the 18th of February.
