Remember the Hyundai i30?  Around a decade or so ago, Hyundai brought it a compact hatchback that offered something for those that were tired of the usual sedan and brand options. While the model slowly faded into the sunset locally, it continued onto subsequent generations in other markets where it was a hit, most especially Europe.

Now, the Hyundai i30 has spawned a more versatile and rather tasty looking variant, the Hyundai i30 Wagon. Measuring 4,585mm x 1,475mm x 1,795mm, with a 2,650mm wheelbase, the body is pretty compact yet still able to hold its own when it comes to hauling stuff. In fact, Hyundai claims that the cargo bay can load up to 602L of your junk, err, precious stuff with the seats up. This increases to 1,650L with those rear seats folded flat.

Besides versatility, the Hyundai i30 offers buyers a bit of driving fun. Engine choices include a 1.4-liter T-GDI gasoline four-pot with 140hp, a 1.0-liter T-GDI three-cylinder putting out 120hp, and a 1.6-liter turbodiesel mill.  Bringing out the best of these engines is a chassis that was developed and tuned on the various driving roads across Europe and the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife. This essentially translates to sharp handling and a supple ride.

Of course, the latest i30 Wagon is naturally in tune with  the times. It packs the most modern infotainment and connectivity features to keep occupants in touch with the world even while on the go. The 8-inch touchscreen has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and LIVE Services, as well as various interface options to sync your different mobile devices.

High Beam Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Keep Assist, and Autonomous Emergency Braking are all part of the safety package. There is even a Driver Attention Alert feature that monitors driver alertness levels and detects stress and fatigue. This, along with the other safety gear, help ensure that occupants and the road around them are safe at all times.

The all-new Hyundai i30 Wagon will enter the scene at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show this March.
