Connected cars are coming. This is the signal given by numerous endeavors in the auto industry that pave the way for such to become a reality. The latest of these is the recent partnership between Renault-Nissan and Microsoft.
The auto firm signed a joint, multi-year agreement with the technology giant to develop platforms that will keep the car of tomorrow connected. The plan is to roll out vehicles that can keep owners in touch with the rest of the world wherever they are.
Apart from staying in tune with the world, one can work on the way to a meeting or the like. And no, you don’t need a driver as the car will be an autonomous vehicle that will take care of driving duties—safely, of course. And one can even perform over-the-air updates on various services and aps, check on the state of their car remotely, and yes, protect their pride and joy.
To do this, Renault-Nissan will adapt the Microsoft Azure, a state-of-the-art system with advanced security and easy-to-use features. Moreover, the car of tomorrow won’t be some out-of-this-world contraption that we can’t understand or afford. On the contrary, it will be a slew of mainstream models within reach of the average consumer.
The future definitely looks exciting…
