Last November, Subaru showed the world its idea of a seven-seat Sport Utility Vehicle, the Viziv 7. Now, the Subaru brand, through its North American division, debuts a near-production ready version dubbed the Subaru Ascent at the New York International Auto Show.
The Subaru Ascent Concept, which gives us a peek at the production version coming next year, boasts the Japanese marque’s Dynamic x Solid design language that conveys a powerful and sophisticated look. The flared fenders, for instance, hint at the trademark Symmetrical All-wheel Drive’s presence. The bluff grille, along with other touches, give it a true SUV demeanor.
While Subaru has an SUV or two in its lineup, this number is set apart by its 7-seat configuration. The flowing dashboard mixes well with the trademark Subie simplicity and functionality. Of course, premium materials are part of the mix.
Another new feature of the Subaru Ascent is the turbocharged direct-injection boxer engine. Naturally, as mentioned earlier, the grip of all-wheel drive is there to ensure a safe yet fun-filled journey each and every time.
The production version of the Subaru Ascent will begin sales in 2018. For now, the world gets to see it at the New York International Auto Show.
