Tata Motors recently launched its full range of commercial vehicles in the local market. This was made possible through a partnership with Pilipinas Taj Autogroup, Inc., its official local distributor.
In its Truckathon 2017 launching event, Tata Motors set up a display of its commercial vehicle lineup. These include the LP range of Light/Medium/Heavy trucks, the SFC 407, the Mini Trucks range of Ace and Super Ace, and the Prima Range of Tractor Trailers and Tippers.
The Prima
The Prima is the brand’s flagship model. It comes in 2 kinds; the Prima 6038 6x4 and the Prima 4438 4x2. Both are powered by a 380 hp 8.9L Cummins diesel engine that’s mated to a 9-speed transmission. However, while the former has a 1,150 Nm of torque, the latter boasts a higher pulling power of 1,550 Nm.
Being the heavyweight of the 2 variants, the Prima 6038 6x4 is ideal for transporting industrial machinery and heavy containers. The Prima 4438 4x2, on the other hand, can haul lighter loads like beverage containers or water/fuel tanks.
The Ace / Super Ace
The Tata Ace mini truck runs with a 702cc 2-cylinder engine that delivers 16 hp and 38 Nm of torque. It also has a 4-speed transmission. Suitable for light city or provincial transport, it can be fitted with a variety of bodies for different commercial applications.
The Tata Super Ace mini truck, on the other hand, carries a beefier 1.4L diesel engine with a 5-speed transmission. With 70 hp and 135 Nm of pulling power on tap, the Super Ace can carry up to a ton of payload.
The SFC 407
Tata Motors brought the SFC 407 in 2 version; the regular version and the Jeepney Concept, which goes in line with the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Jeepney Modernization Program. As overview, the Tata SFC 404 has a maximum loading capacity of 4,450 kg. It is powered by a 3.0L engine that produces 73 hp and 225 Nm of torque. With is heavy-duty rear axle, it is able to carry a variety of loads for different purposes.
The LP
Boasting the highest number of variants available, the Tata LP presents itself with 6 kinds; the LPT 1618, LP 613, LPO 1618, LPT 513, LPT 613, and the LPT 1116. Collectively, the Tata LPT range consists of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks fit for all kinds of commercial needs.
