The Chevrolet Trax isn’t exactly the type of vehicle you’d want to take off the beaten path. Sure it has a bit of ground clearance and in some markets, available all-wheel drive. But the reality is that this little ute is built more for the city and the harsh weather that comes with global warming.
Chevrolet, however, wants to show off another side of the Trax—a tough and adventurous Trax in the guise of the Trax Activ concept. Unveiled at this year’s Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, the cool rendition features goodies like raised suspension, revised front and rear fascias with improved approach and departure angles, a wider track, and overall meaner stance.
The toughened appearance is given more versatility thanks to a Thule roof basket with a custom illumination bar. This not only makes it look like a true off-roader but likewise helps in nighttime and inclement weather visibility. The look is finished off in a Satin Sandstorm paint job with Carbon Flash rocker panels and fenders. Oh, and the headlamps and taillights are tinted for a cool effect.
The jet black interior also gets stuff like all-weather floor mats, while the 60/40 split-folding rear seat and fold-flat front passenger’s chair increase its versatile cargo space. You can practically load a bike and other gear in there.
The Chevrolet Trax is mainly a concept—for now. Yet it does tickle the imagination and shows just how versatile this little city slicker is.
