The tenth-generation Honda Civic has only been in the Philippine market for less than a year. Yet it has already gained quite a following, with more than 2,000 units delivered since launch. And Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) is understandably beaming with delight.
The Japanese auto firm, however, isn’t about to rest on its laurels. On the contrary, HCPI just announced a few updates to the hot-selling Civic 1.8 E CVT variant. The Civic’s “base” version now gets goodies like Power Folding Side Mirrors that allow the driver to tuck in the mirrors to aid in tight driving conditions. This eliminates worries of swiping or being swiped by obstacles and other motorists.
The updated Honda Civic 1.8 E CVT now likewise gets Speed Sensing Door Locks. As the name suggests, this automatically locks the doors at a certain speed—15kph in this case. This is truly useful to prevent being victimized by the “bukas kotse” gang when stuck in our seemingly endless traffic jams. A godsend for the forgetful among us motorists.
Besides these safety and convenience tech goodies, the Honda Civic 1.8 CVT comes with Remote Engine Start and Walk Away Auto Lock features. The former allows the driver to start the car and turn on the Auto Climate Control from outside the vehicle using the key fob. The latter, meanwhile, locks the vehicle automatically when it senses the increasing distance from the Smart Key.
The Honda Civic 1.8 CVT is still powered by the vaunted 1.8-liter four cylinder i-VTEC motor that puts out 139hp and 170Nm. Mated to an Earth Dreams Continuously Variable Transmission, it dishes out powerful acceleration and returns decent fuel economy.
