The Jaguar XF has always been one of those cars that cater to the distinguished gentleman—the suave and sophisticated set, if you will. Now, Jaguar Land Rover wants to cater to that same type of individual, albeit one who leads an active lifestyle. Enter the Jaguar XF Sportbrake.
As the name suggests, this is the swoopy sedan’s Shooting Brake or wagon version. It still possesses the aforementioned sweeping front end and equally suave roofline, this time extending all the way back to accommodate some 1,700 liters of cargo volume with the rear seats folded. Even the with seats up, one can still load up to 565 liters of gear. And those sleek proportions give the car a low 0.29Cd drag coefficient. Truly slippery, indeed.
This being a Jaguar, the latest tech to make life calm and collected are definitely part of the mix. The cabin, for instance, gets cabin air filtration and ionization, ensuring only the cleanest air for all occupants. The tailgate and sunblind can be activated using gesture control. And that sunroof is a large 1.6sq.m affair, giving ample light for all.
Drivers will likewise be treated to a whole range of assistance systems. On the move, one gets an advanced all-wheel drive system backed by goodies like All Surface Progress Control, Adaptive Surface Response, and Intelligent Driveline Dynamics, just to name a few. The driver himself is taken care of by a Driver Condition Monitor that detects drowsiness and lets one know when it’s time to take a breather.
The new Jaguar XF Sportbrake will be sold with a choice of four diesel and two gasoline engines. The oil burners include a 2.0-liter with 163hp, a 180hp 2.0-liter, a 240hp version of the same 2.0-liter Ingenium mill, and a 3.0-liter 300hp V6. The gasoline-spec versions, meanwhile, include a 2.0-liter with 250hp and a potent 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that dishes out 380hp and allows the Sportbrake to hit 100kph from rest in 5.5 seconds.
