The web has been a-buzz lately about a rumored Porsche wagon that is set to be unveiled in Geneva.  Well, those rumors are true. Porsche has finally revealed the new Panamera Sport Turismo. The newest member of the Panamera family mixes the sporty lines of the 911 with (are you ready for this?) the versatility of a station wagon or Shooting Brake.

Folks that are up in arms about this mix might want to stop and check out the design. The front end remains pure Porsche, retaining the time-honored looks of the iconic 911. From the B-pillar rearward, a long roof, elongated window, and a less dramatic slope at the rear give it a look all its own. Of course, powerful shoulders, and a sports car-like rear end give it a truly sporty vibe.

There is even a adaptive rear spoiler that can change angles depending on the speed and drive mode selected. This aids in giving optimum downforce for the utmost in driving performance.

Another unique trait of the new Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is the larger body. The car ticks the tape at 5,049mm long, 1,937mm wide, and 1,429mm tall, with a 2,950mm wheelbase. These translate to a large passenger compartment and equally expansive cargo bay. The Sport Turismo is the first Panamera to come with optional five-passenger seating. Cargo volume is pegged at 520L with the rear seats up. Once the 40/20/40 split-folding seatbacks are dropped, this expands to 1,390L. Moreover, flexible cargo management systems are available for the utmost in versatility.

At launch, the new Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo can be ordered with a choice of five engines. The most powerful of the lot is the vaunted 550hp unit found in the Panamera Turbo. And yes, orders are now being accepted.

The Porsche Panamera Sprot Turismo will be revealed to the public at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
