Three Million Filipinos Now Use beep Cards

The beep card has only been in the country for around two years. Yet according the AF Payments Inc., sellers of the tap-to-pay card, the service has sold roughly 3 million times since entering the scene in 2015.

The beep card, which is used at for a wide range of services like the MRT and LRT, various bus and transport services, and the like has proven to be quite popular among Filipinos. The LRT and MRT alone, for instance, sees 6 out of every 10 Filipinos availing of the easy-to-use contactless payment system.

Besides the convenience of simply tapping your card to pay for your ride, beep cards are reloadable at an equally diverse range of establishments. One can top up at FamilyMart, Circle K, SM Bills Payment, Bayad Centers, as well as Villarica and Tambunting Pawnshops. What’s even cooler is that the beep card is valid for four years.
