Did you know that Uber now has more than 5-billion registered trips worldwide under its name?  The popular ride booking service has announced that it has breached the 5-billion trips mark as a result of its service being availed 156 times at exactly 7:29 a.m. (GMT) last May 20, 2017.

It was confirmed that this momentous feat happened in 24 countries across 6 continents. Moreover, the trips were pinned in key cities such as Mumbai, Moscow, Medellin, and Metro Manila. Best part is that according to Uber Philippines, 5 Filipino drivers contributed into the said achievement. They were Amando Mateo, Edward Cunanan, Ariel Vinarao, Reynan Maranan, and Jeffrey Reliosa.

Overseas, Uber Indonesia reported that one of its newly-registered drivers was taking his maiden trip in Jakarta at the time. 6 riders were also recorded to have availed the service for the very first time. Of the 6 booked rides, the shortest and the longest distances covered were at 0.47 km and 27.5 km, respectively. In addition, Uber Indonesia said that it has noted 15 other riders using the service outside of their home cities.

To celebrate, Uber gave $500 (around 25,317) to each of its 156 drivers who've been part of its historic feat.
