Since its introduction in 2011, the Audi Q3 has given buyers the best of both worlds. It offers the cache of the four-ringed brand and adds a bit of versatility that many folks look for in their vehicles today. And now, it’s time for a refresh.
The latest Q3 still possesses the coupe-like profile that has made the compact Sport Utility Vehicle (CUV) a hit among both the style-conscious and practical set. The front end is dominated by the signature Audi Singleframe grille and Xenon headlights with LED Daytime Running Lamps. This treatment is enhanced by the new lower fascia that features a blacked out design with split-type air intakes.
Moving to the side, the look is characterized by the bold wheel arches, side sills, and of course, the sloping roofline. The rear is equally striking with wraparound taillight clusters and tailgate. Apart from the svelte looks the CUV also benefits from weight-saving aluminum components on the hood and tailgate. All this help make the vehicle truly light and thus, agile and fuel efficient.
Powering the updated Audi Q3 is a 1.4-liter TFSI turbocharged mill that delivers 150hp and 250Nm. While these may seem modest for a vehicle of its size, the engine, paired with a six-speed S-tronic dual clutch gearbox, allows the little Audi to sprint from rest to 100kph in 8.9 seconds and reach a 204kph top speed.
While straight-line speed may not exactly be its strong suit, Audi promises a comfortable ride and nimble performance. These are courtesy of a front McPherson struts with lower wishbones and a four-link configuration at the back. The cool thing about this set up is its use of forged and cast aluminum to help optimize weight distribution and savings. Add to this, electronic aids like the revised Electronic Stabilization Program and you’ve got one agile CUV.
Yet the real draw of such a vehicle has arguably got to be what’s on the inside. The all-black interior is clad in leather while an ample 460 liters of cargo space is there for stowing all your gear. More space can be had by folding down the rear seatbacks, expanding volume to 1,365 liters. There is even an extendable cover for hiding your precious cargo from prying eyes. And of course, Audi’s vaunted Multimedia Interface (MMI) is just one of the many goodies that come standard in this premium crossover.
The refreshed Aud Q3 is now available at any of Audi’s showrooms thoughout the country.
