Following last year’s successful first Philippine Auto and Parts Expo (PhilAPEX), the folks behind the Philippine Parts Makers Association (PPMA) and the Department of Industry – Board of Investments (DTI-BOI), are all set to commence the second PhilAPEX. Scheduled for opening on August 9-10, 2018, the said event will be held at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia Complex Pasay City.

As with last year’s event, this year’s PhilAPEX will run with the same theme, “Gawang Pilipino, Para sa Pilipino.” As this theme imlies, all that’s in focus at this year’s PhilAPEX will be the top-quality materials and craftsmanship of Filipinos in the automotive industry.

Among the highlights of the 2018 PhilAPEX will be the showcase of 2 of the primed example models built by Filipinos using mostly Philippine-made materials. These are the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 and the Toyota Vios. The reason being is Mitsubishi and Toyota’s participation in the government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) Program back in 2016, a program aimed to boost the local auto industry by way of allowing Philippine-made products and world-class Filipino workforce to flourish.

Another highlight of the second PhilAPEX is the showcase of modern public utility vehicle (PUV) models vying for slots at the proposed Eco-PUV Manufacturing Program, a vital part of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) pet project called PUV Modernization Program. Expected to participate in the second PhilAPEX will be local PUV and parts manufacturing companies such as Centro Manufacturing Corporation, Santarosa, Almazora Motor Corporation, among others.

In relation to this, the second PhilAPEX will also highlight the refinement of incentive both on the manufacturing side and the business operations side of the PUV Modernization Program. All these and more at the second PhilAPEX.
