Enjoyment and peace of mind have been Subaru hallmarks for quite some time now. The brand that brought the boxer engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive to everyday models like the Forester and Outback now takes things a step forward as it looks to the future via its slew of concepts at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show.

The highlight of this year’s display is the brand’s vaunted VIZIV Performance Concept Sedan. The name alone gives us a hint of how exciting this future Subaru promises to be. Yet like all Subies, the VIZIV Performance Concept embodies the core values of Enjoyment and Peace of Mind—meaning you can have fun behind the wheel while still feeling safe and secure. This can be seen in technologies like advanced driver assist systems that keep drivers safe while still letting them enjoy their time at the tiller.

Speaking of performance, Subaru has also revealed the S208. Based on the Impreza WRX STI, it offers an improved take on the S207 that was introduced back 2015. When we say improved, we’re talking about a better engine, suspension, and other driving bits. These come in the form on a 329hp version of the boxer motor, a slick-shifting close-ratio transmission, and various exterior and interior enhancements. It will be limited to an exclusive run of just 450 units.

Those who want more exclusivity can opt for the Subaru BRZ STI Sport. Yes, the practical sports car gets some tweaking from Subaru’s motorsport arm STI, with goodies like a more rigid body and enhanced suspension bits like flexible v-brace and flexible draw stiffeners, as well as 18-inch wheels and tires. These gives the already balanced performer even better grip and comfort. Plus, a special Cool Grey Khaki paint scheme will be available. As mentioned, only 100 units will be offered,  the owners of which will be determined by lottery.

Those folks that want a bit of outdoor fun can check out the Subaru Outback Limited Sport Edition. This one gives the already capable yet luxurious Outback even more pizzazz with such touches as exterior and interior enhancements and more upscale features. Those that want the same adventurous spirit may just find it in the Subaru XV Fun Adventure Concept. This number adds off-road tires and a fun yellow paint scheme that makes the already chic XV an even more eye-catching off-road warrior.

In true Subaru fashion, the Impreza Future Sport Concept gives us a peek into what driving enjoyment could look like, Subaru-style. The reshaped bumpers, lower center of gravity, and added bits all hint at driving pleasure. And the yellow exterior finish simply emphasizes this point even further.

These and other cool cars can be seen at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show, happening from October 25 to November 5, 2017 at Tokyo Big Sight.
