Audi Reveals a More Dynamic Second-Gen A7 Sportback

Seven years ago, Audi gave the world its very own version of a swoopy four-door coupe, the A7. The fastback profile mixed with a spacious cabin made it a great cruiser with a hint of sportiness to boot.. In true Audi fashion, the German luxury marque unveils its successor, the new A7 Sportback.

As with every Audi, this new model retains the familiar profile yet adds a new dynamic vibe. This can be seen in the winder and lower singleframe grille, slim headlights with available laser lighting, and a powerdomed hood.

The side profile is what really sets the A7 Sportback apart the rest of the Audi model range. The flared front fenders and muscular rear haunches give a sporty touch, complemented by the curved roofline. The low-slung top is matched by upswept rear window lines for an elegant demeanor.

The look is capped off by a rear dominated by equally thin taillights that span the width of the car. There’s even a retractable spoiler that activates at speeds above 120kph.

The chic styling is matched by a range of Audi engines with mild hybrid technology. A 3.0-liter TFSI V6 motor with 340hp and 500Nm will be available at launch. It will be mated to a 7-speed S-tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. As for that mild hybrid system, it comes in the form of a 48-volt electrical drive and a belt-alternator starter. This works together with a lithium ion battery.

That sporty yet comfortable cabin with all the cool tech is enhanced by an equally well-balanced chassis that gives the car excellent ride and handling. Extensive use of aluminum, an optional sport differential, and air suspension all contribute these characteristics. Plus, buyers can choose from either steel springs, a sport suspension, electrically-controlled damping, and adaptive air suspension. One can also opt for wheel sizes as large as 21 inches.

The new Audi A7 Sportback will hit dealerships in February 2018.
