October 21, 2017 saw the 2nd staging of the first ever Motorcycle of the Year Philippines (MOTY-P) Test Fest. Organized by the Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI), the said event was held at the Ayala-owned Arca South in Taguig City.

Seeing the booming local motorcycle industry, CAGI conceptualized the MOTY-P as an addition to its already well-established Car of the Year Philippines (COTY-P) and Truck of the Year Philippines (TOTY-P) awards, seeing the booming local motorcycle industry. Similar to the latter 2 awards, the MOTY-P’s goal is to help Filipino motorcycle buyers be informed and make educated decisions before buying a brand new bike.

The CAGI MOTY-P Test Fest consists of the Quantitative and Qualitative testing procedures. The former entails the group’s roster of media men and women to hop on and take each bike for a spin around a specially designed test course within Arca South. As its name implies, the Qualitative testing is where test riders evaluate each bike’s design, riding comfort, convenience, and handling, among others.

The Quantitative testing, on the other hand, is done using a wide strip of road within the test course. Each bike is fitted with data gathering devices and GPS to accurately measure acceleration, braking, and power delivery.

The Test Fest is made possible by CAGI’s long-time partners Carmudi Philippines and KPMG RG Manabat & Co. The latter, as an auditing company, would play a vital role in keeping the testing procedures fair and accurate.

The MOTY-P Test Fest part 2 saw a crowd of more than 20 bikes from such brands as Harley Davidson, Honda, Indian, Kymco, Motorstar, TVS, and Ural. The complete lists of bikes are as follows:

  • Harley Davidson – Street Rod, Street XG500
