In October of last year, BMW unveiled a small, sporty crossover that added a bit of spunk to the growing X family. The X2, as it was known, had a character that exuded youthfulness and energy yet still remained a true BMW at heart.

Merely half a year later, the X2 finally lands on Philippine soil. SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation brings the youngest member of the X family via the BMW Joyfest, which is happening this weekend at the BMW Paviolion on 9th ave corner 30th street in Bonifacio Global City.

Looking taut and agile even at a glance, the BMW X2 boasts of more than a few traits that tie it into the family tree. Of course, the trademark kidney grille is there, this time with a wider lower section as opposed to the usual interpretation. Another notable BMW styling trait are the C-pillars. Enthusiasts may be reminded of those from the iconic 2000 CS and 3.0CSL once they lay eyes on these details.

All these complement the modern touches such as the squared-off fenders, sporty ailapipes, and stylish 19-inch alloy wheels that go nicely with the two new shades of Misano Blue and Galvanic Gold.

Just like the exterior, the cabin is a modern place filled with little details that set it apart from the usual BMW X model. Stuff like Micro Hexgon fibraic/Alcantara/Anthracite material line the upholstery. Then there is the mood lighting that comes in shades of Mint, Orange, Lilac, Bronze, Blue, or White--all meant to relax or invigorate occupants while on the go. And who can miss BMW's digital display that keeps everyone informed and connected?

BMW has not forgottten that this is still an X model. This is why it has endowed the little X2 with a 470L cargo hold that can swallow more than its fair share of your active gear. Little touches like door storage bins can likewise hold bottles and other knick-knacks with ease.

The Philippine-spec BMW X2 xDrive20d M Sport X will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TwinPower diesel mill that produces 190hp and 400Nm of torque. All this is transferred to all four wheels via 8-speed Steptronic automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive system. As any BMW driver knows, this setup promises more than ample power and a fun time behind the tiller.

The BMW X2 xDrive20d M Sport X has a stikcer price of P4,390,000. You can check it out this weekend at the BMW Joyfest that takes place in BGC in Taguig.
