Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading O2O mobile platform, and AutoItalia Philippines, the exclusive local distributor of Piaggio Apé vehicles, partnered to offer GrabTrike Premium service in more cities in the Philippines.

For quite some time now, Grab, the leading ride-sharing app, has been offering GrabTrike to select cities and municipalities in the country. Now, it upgrades the service via GrabTrike Premium—a partnership with AutoItaia’s Piaggio Ape three-wheeled vehicles.

The more premium version of GrabTrike gives passengers added safety and convenience as it uses the tried and tested Piaggio Ape City F1 three-wheelers for short distance trips. Around 2,000 of these units will be deployed in key cities and municipalities in andaround the country.

With  a load capacity of about 300kg, the Ape is fairly larger than the usual tricycle. Moreover, it boasts of a Euro IV-compliant gasoline or diesel motor that can log up to 38km/L. This is perfect for driver-aprtners on a budget.

And this is exactly what Grab and AutoItalia hope to achieve with the roll out of the GrabTrike Premium service. More folks now have the opportunity to earn a decent income while providing decent and safe transport for the community.

To prove its point, the Municipality of Binalonan will be the first place in the country where GrabTrike will be fielded. Some 24 units of the Ape City F1 will be rolled out onto its streets for the benefit of the riding public. And this is just the beginning, says Grab and AutoItalia. Expect to see more of these trikes on our roads real soon.
