The GTC4Lusso is not your typical Ferrari

Ferrari has always had an image of being a toy for the rich boy. We say this only because you can’t put the words Ferrari and practical in the same sentence. It’s always been a car for two people, and one that isn’t exactly that usable for the daily grind.

Well, that may change as Ferrari, through its exclusive Philippine distributor Autostrada Motore Inc. presents the Ferrari GTC4Lusso to discerning car enthusiasts and select members of the motoring media at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila.

From the outside, it’s clear that this is not your typical Ferrari. Sure, it’s low and sleek but what sets it apart is the shooting brake design. This can be sen in the elongated rear roof that tapers off for a swooping profile. In true Ferrari fashion, large air vents are strategically placed on various parts of the car, along with a rear roof-mounted spoiler to aid aerodynamics.

That new styling language isn’t just for show. It’s actually meant to highlight one of the car’s main facets—that of being a comfortable four-seat luxury saloon. Ferrari says that this car offers the feeling of being in a luxurious living space. Plus, you get modern amenities like a 10.2-inch capacitive touchscreen that controls the infotainment system. And of course, the driver grips a small-diameter steering wheel with a host of controls that take care of different vehicle functions.

Yes, it may be a four-seater but this one is still a Ferrari at heart. That heart comes in the form of a 6.3-liter naturally-aspirated V12 that delivers 690hp and 697Nm of torque. That’s enough to send the car to 100kph from a standstill in 3.2 seconds and reach a 335kph top speed.

Power is sent to all four wheels via 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Yes, you read that right: this Ferrari is all-wheel drive, using the 4RM Evo system. What makes it special is that it also employs Side Slip Control 4.0 and four-wheel steering. Combined with tech goodies like the E-Dif or Electronic Differential, the 4RM-S gives the car the utmost control while allowing it to tackle various road conditions.

Yes, this is not your typical Ferrari. Sure, it may look like something that the folks from the Prancing Horse would design—with a unique twist. Yes, it seats four comfortably. But this just allows owners to take family and friends along for the ride. And sure, it’s got four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering. But that only means it can provide more fun on varying road conditions.

The Ferrari GTC4Lusso is now available at the Autostrada Motore Inc Ferrari showroom in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
