Honda Cars PH introduces new, refreshed HR-V small crossover for 2018/2019

Updates on the side are minimal, that being the new blacked-out 17-inch alloy wheels. Its distinctive silhouette is still present, as is the stylish rear passenger door with the handle neatly tucked along the C-pillar, giving the HR-V a coupe-like presence. Similarly, Honda kept the back end styling almost as is, albeit adding new LED tail lights to complete the look.

Inside, the 2018 Honda HR-V features exactly the same motif found in the outgoing model. What’s new though is its upgraded head unit in the form of a 7-inch touch screen system with iOS and Android device support via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, respectively. Seeing the continued popularity of smart phones these days, this feature would greatly benefit customers in terms of on-the-go communication, connectivity, entertainment, and navigation.

The new HR-V also carries a suit of safety features such as anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), brake assist, hill-start assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchors, among others. With these, the already responsible driver can worry less about the safety and wellbeing of everyone inside or out.

Opening the hood of the new HR-V reveals a gasoline-fed 1.8L i-VTEC motor that’s carried over from the previous model. That being said, this engine still delivers 140 hp and 172 Nm of torque, all controlled via continuous variable transmission (CVT). And just like the previous model, this mill also retains the ECON Mode with Eco-Coaching to maximize fuel efficiency.

The new Honda HR-V comes in 2 kinds, the 1.8 E CVT and the new, sportier 1.8 RS Navi CVT. Highlighting the latter, it heads the way with a more aggressively-styled grille, LED fog lamps, distinct door trims and handles, unique 2-tone alloy wheels, smoked tail lights, among others.

Inside, Honda injected a bit of a premium feel to the HRV-RS Navi. Case in point, this range-topping variant boasts an all-leather interior package, complimented by piano black trims on the steering wheel and center stack. Its infotainment system also comes with a navigation feature, which is ideal for exploring places in, out, and around the metro.

Of the pricing, the new Honda HR-V 1.8 E CVT and the RS Navi variant are stickered at P1,295,000 and P1,495,000 respectively. Available colors include Phoenix Orange (RS Navi CVT exclusive), Lunar Silver Metallic (1.8 E CVT exclusive), Passion Red Pearl, Taffeta White, and Modern Steel Metallic.

Lastly, HCPI has already started selling the new HR-V in all of its 38 dealerships nationwide.
