It may have only been unveiled recently yet the Hyundai Kona has bagged quite a number of awards. Hyundai’s subcompact crossover has won a number of prestigious honors bestowed upon it by some of the most highly-recognized award giving bodies in the automotive industry.

During this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, for instance, the Kona and its Kona Electric sibling were awarded the North American Utility Vehicle of the Year by a group of American and Canadian journalists. It must be noted that it is the first time a Hyundai has joined the ranks of this illustrious group, which has seen quite a number of big names in the automotive industry.

The Kona also won the Best Subcompact SUV for the Money, given by the U.S. News and World Report.  As the award’s name suggests, this one looks at quality and value for money. Apart from these, the Kona also garnered Car and Driver’s Editor’s Choice awards, which are the esteemed publication’s recommendations for the motoring public.

As of these weren’t enough, its older stablemate, the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe was named the Most Dependable Midsize SUV by J.D. Power’s 2019 Vehicle Dependability Study. This one, as you may tell, looks at how dependable vehicles are over a period of time.

Both awards, say Hyundai Asia Resources Inc, are a testament to the quality of their vehicles.  And as the year goes by, the Korean carmaker hopes not only to bag more trophies but to show people that it is the name that they can trust for their next ride.
