Mazda Keeps Things Interesting by Updating the CX-3

Since its introduction to the line-up a few years back, the Mazda CX-3 seems to have been getting an update on an annual basis. To keep things fresh, the Hiroshima-based car company has once again refreshed its subcompact offering for the 2018 model year. Enter the revised Mazda CX-3 that debuts at the New York Auto Show.

While it retains the overall hatchback-like profile, this one receives a new grille up front, more chrome in varous places, and a helping of piano black accents on the window line and foglight bezels. The taillights, too, get circular elements for a bit more style.

As with the outside, the cabin gets wider seats, with what Mazda calls vibration-absorbing foam. Rear seat occupants now get a center armrest with cupholders. And an electronic parking brake frees up space on that center console.

Besides aesthetics, Mazda also took the time to tweak the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder mill. It now produces 148hp and 201Nm of torque. The car company also claims that it is more potent and efficient.

With these changes, along with the luscious Soul Red Crystal paint scheme and interior that can be clad in white, the new Mazda CX-3 hopes to continue what its pre-facelifted predecessor started. It will go on sale later this year.
