Vietnam is considered as one of the largest motorcycle markets in the region. So it was a fitting host toe the recently concluded meeting if the Federation of Asian Motorcycle Industries, held in Hanoi last September.

Hosted by the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers, the event was also the venue for the 1st International Motorcycle Manufacturers Association’s Global Policy Workshop. Here, various issues and topics were put on the table for discussion.

FAMI members, which include representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, tackled everything from road safety, urban access, sustainable motorcycles and development, as well as trade strategies and even electric vehicles. True enough, the once-a-year FAMI meet is the venue where such issues can be thoroughly discussed, concerns raised and resolved, and new partnerships and synergies forged.

Our very own Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) is an active member of the group. MDPPA President Armando Reyes, for instance, is a FAMI Vice-President, while MDPPA Vice-President Alfredo Lejano is the FAMI Information Task Force Chair.

MDPPA will host the next meeting in 2018, right here in the Philippines.
