Peugeot Philippines seems to be on a roll as of late. Earlier this year, it introduced the 3008 compact SUV and Traveller MPV to the Philippine market. Now, it sets out to unveil yet another offering, the Peugeot 5008 7-seat SUV.
Wrapped in the trademark Peugeot-styled body, the all-new 5008 rides on the Efficient Modular Platform 2 that is shared with its other Peugeot siblings. This one, however, has been designed to accommodate a roomy cabin that provides versatility and room for passengers and their gear.
The second-row seats, for instance, can be adjusted to slide forward and backward, giving a larger amount of legroom when needed. This helps give even more space for those seated on the third row. This means even adults can sit back there on long journeys.
Up front, the brand’s iCockpit finds its way here with its trademark small steering wheel, digital displays, and inviting driving environment. It puts all controls and displays within reach and line of sight, providing a more relaxed and engaging driving position. Of course, top-notch materials are part of the package.
The new Peugeot 5008 is powered by a 1.6-liter Turbocharged High Pressure gasoline motor. This is the same mill found in the 3008\s gas variant, putting out 165hp and 240Nm of torque. Mated to a 6-speed Efficient Automatic driving the front wheels, it promises smooth power delivery and outstanding fuel economy. Moreover, the use of the EMP2 platform equates to a lighter kerb weight and better driving dynamics.
All told the Peugeot 5008 offers an interesting proposition to those folks looking for a 7-seat SUV but aren’t too keen on the usual suspects. It is now available at all Peugeot Philippines showrooms with a suggested retail price of P2,990,000.
