Polestar can now make your AWD Volvo more rear-biased and tail-happy

Polestar may be quite busy these days developing its own electric cars. Yet it still dabbles in tweaking production Volvos to make them more responsive and add a bit of driving fun. The latest example is a software upgrade that gives All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Volvos more rear-end bias.

The software update allows Volvos fitted with AWD that ride on the CMA and SPA platforms to have a bit more rear-end bias and become a tad more tail-happy. While this may scare the ordinary motorist, car enthusiasts will know that this adds to the fun factor.

Moreover, the software can improve traction as it sends more of it during situations such as accelerating out of snow and the like. The driver can even choose to toggle the system between Dynamic or turn stability control off—again for more fun behind the tiller. But being a Volvo, safety is still there, thanks to the inherent grip of AWD.

The software upgrade can be had for the XC40, the 60-Series models, and 90-Series offerings as long as these are fitted with AWD. It won’t be available, however, if your ride is equipped with the T6 or T8 Twin Engine hybrid motor as these already employ a rear-biased setup.

The software tweak will be available beginning later this month.
