It’s been around 5 or so years since the current-generation Levorg first hit the scene.
Car enthusiasts love it because it offers performance car levels of driving—albeit in a more comfortable and practical package.
But now. Subaru says it’s time for a new generation, a preview of which can be seen at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show.
At first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s a facelift. Look a bit closer, however, and you’ll see traces of the Viziv concept shown a few years back.
Subaru also stresses that this is an all-new model that rides on the Global Platform that underpins models like the XV, Impreza, and Forester.
Apart from the look, the Japanese car company doesn’t give any other details about safety, mechanicals, or the like.
It did say, though, that the new Levorg will be powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged boxer engine.
We’re guessing that this one will be more potent than the 2.0-liter mill found in the current car. This speculation is further fueled by some sectors saying that the new motor will likewise power the upcoming next-generation WRX.
Until all this comes to fruition, however, we can only stare at what promises to be another Subaru performance machine for the practical family man that loves to drive.
The second-generation Subaru Levorg is expected to hit the production floor sometime in 2020.
