You can only get your hands on Ferrari’s 488 Pista Piloti if you’re a Customer Racing Driver

Ferrari has always been about racing. Sure, it has its road cars but those that know the Italian marque are aware that it is heavily involved in motorsport, events such as the FIA World Endurance Championship. The Prancing Horse celebrates this link with the unveiling of the Ferrari 488 Pista Piloti at this year’s WEC held last weekend at the Circuit de la Sarthe.

Paying tribute to the championship winning no. 51 AF Corsa 488 GTE raced to victory during the 2017 season by Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Callado, the Piloti Pista wears a few styling cues that link it to the winning car. The Italian flag, for instance, adorn the hood and roof, just like the race car. There is also the no. 51, which can be replaced with the customer’s racing number. Then there is a laurel and the letters PRO that signify which class the race car won in. The look is finished off by an S-duct and rear spoiler that are done up in carbon fiber.

More special touches are seen once you step inside. The black Alcantara seats now come in a perforated pattern with the Italian flag adorning the backrests, as well as the floor mats and edge of the gearshift paddles. The car’s racing heritage can be seen by the #51 being placed at the base of the steering wheel, along with an identification plate on the sills.

This special edition Piloti Pista will be powered by the 3.9-liter turbo V8. It will be noted that this engine recently won the Engine of the Year award for the third straight year.

Clients that want one must be part of Ferrari’s motorsport program. Yes, Ferrari will build this car only for its customers involved in its motorsport programs. They can choose from any of the four shades of Rosso Corsa, Nero Daytona, Blu Tour de France, and Argento Nurburgring.

Designed by Ferrari’s Tailor Made program, the car was on display at last weekend’s World Endurance Championship race.
