The race is on for this year’s 2016 Car of the Year—Philippines. The Car Awards Group Inc (CAGI), the largest group of automotive journalists, came together once more to conduct the annual Test Fest to see which vehicles are worthy of being called the Car and Truck of the Year 2016.

Held last October 25 and 26 at the Nuvali Evoliving Center in Santa Rosa, Laguna, CAGI put around forty-six (46) vehicles of various categories, makes, and models through their paces in both qualitative and quantitative testing. The former employed consumer metrics such as fit and finish, driving feel, and ride and took the cars around the Nuvali grounds. The latter, meanwhile, used acceleration, braking, and handling as a basis to determine which is the best of the best, using a closed-off portion of the complex to conduct the tests.

This year’s entries range from subcompacts like the updated Toyota Vios and Yaris with Dual VVTI, compacts like the hot new Honda Civic, midsize Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) like the Mitsubishi Montero Sport, sporty wagons such as the Subaru Levorg and Mazda6 Sportwagon, crossovers such as the Mazda CX-3, and MPVs like the all the Toyota Innova.

The winners of this year’s 2016 Car of the Year—Philippines will be announced in late November.
