A few months ago, Chevrolet Philippines threw an exciting reveal of the new Trax at the 2017 Manila International Auto Show. And now, the American carmaker, though its official local distributor The Covenant Car Company, Inc (TCCI), has announced that the face-lifted subcompact crossover is officially available.
According to Chevrolet Philippines, the look of the new Trax goes in line with the American carmaker’s new global design platform.
As regard, its front end has been redesigned to echo a sleeker, more muscular appeal. It’s highlighted by a new proportional dual-port grille that’s flanked with a set of slimmer headlights. The headlights are fitted with LED daytime running lights (DRL), making it an object to be seen easily on the road at all times by approaching drivers or pedestrians.
In profile, the new Trax carries over almost all of its predecessor’s design, albeit the inclusion of a new set of 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels and chromed skid plates. The rear portion, on the other hand, evokes a slightly slimmer appearance than the outgoing model. It’s all because of the new LED tail lights and a redesigned bumper.
Changes to its cabin design are far from being revolutionary, yet it still projects a fresher vibe. For example, it now has a redesigned instrument cluster which makes for easier reading of various driver informations.
Its console and dash layout have also been redesigned in a way that would put more visual focus on its updated 7-inch touch screen head unit with Chevrolet’s proprietary MyLink in-car connectivity and infotainment system. What’s new to this system is its ability to support Android and iOS devices via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, respectively. It is so ready for the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) strict Anti-Distracted Driving law that instills safety and discipline by forbidding the improper mounting of devices on the dash and texting/calling while driving.
Under the hood, the new Trax still sports the tried and true 1.4L inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 140 hp and 200 Nm of torque. This gasoline-fed mill is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that spins the front wheels.
Of note, Chevrolet Philippines will roll out the new Trax in 2 variants; the LS and the LT. The former stickers at P1,123,888, while the latter comes in at P1,358,888. Available colors include Summit White, Abalone White, Switchblade Silver, Black Meet Kettle, Boracay Blue, Son of a Gun Gray, Pull Me Over Red, and Velvet Red.
Finally, the new Trax also comes with Chevrolet Philippines’s Complete Care program. It’s the brand’s customer-centric after-sales perks which is explain in detail here.
